Meet Our Partners
Save the Children is proud to partner with organizations and corporations to help ensure children are safe and protected when disaster strikes in the United States. All of our partners are vital to building our programs for children and caregivers, and we are grateful to each one for their unique contributions.
Since 2003, RB and Save the Children have worked hand in hand to provide help, hope and support for millions of families around the world. Whether it’s building handwashing stations in developing countries, or training children and families in the U.S. to Get Ready, Get Safe for disasters, our partnership is critical to the mission of helping kids be kids, no matter what happens. Through the Get Ready Get Safe initiative, RB is mobilizing employees as champions for children and helping families prepare their homes for emergencies. With a commitment to creating healthy and happy homes and a passion to protect the most vulnerable, RB is ensuring that, in times of crises, our children will be safe. Together, we save lives.
With support from GSK, and in partnership with Columbia University’s National Center for Disaster Preparedness (NCDP), Save the Children will analyze and recommend procedures, trainings and guidance to help local communities build resilience to shield children from post-disaster devastation. With two million dollars over a three-year period, the Resilient Children/Resilient Communities Initiative will develop two pilot programs – one in Washington County, Arkansas and one in Putnam County, New York. The partnership will guide participating communities through a crisis simulation, and help them develop a sustainable, child-focused action plan. Impact will be measured using the Community Preparedness Index (CPI), an evidence-based measure of community preparedness previously developed by Save the Children in collaboration with NCDP. This project will also form a National Children Resilience Board to influence policies and programs that can improve preparedness systems for children nationally. This award builds off a global partnership between GSK and Save the Children that aims to save the lives of one million children by combining our expertise, resources and influence.
For more than a decade, Toys"R"Us has been a critical partner in Save the Children’s emergency relief efforts, contributing more than $4 million to support emergency recovery in the U.S. and abroad, including the earthquake in Haiti, the earthquake and tsunami in Japan and most recently to help the littlest victims of Hurricane Sandy and the 2013 Oklahoma tornadoes. Expanding on its commitment to Save the Children, Toys"R"Us has introduced a reusable bag in its stores –– showcasing the artwork of a young child –– with $1 from the purchase of each bag benefiting Save the Children's Domestic Emergency Fund. Monies raised through this initiative will further strengthen disaster preparedness programs and relief efforts in the U.S. By purchasing this bag at your local Toys"R"Us store, you too can help children and families during times of crisis. In conjunction with this initiative, the Toys"R"Us Children's Fund has made a $100,000 donation to the Save the Children Domestic Emergency Fund.
Carter’s supports Save the Children’s emergency response work here in the U.S. and around the world. When Hurricane Sandy displaced thousands of families in New York and New Jersey, Carter’s donated new clothing to keep children living in shelters warm and comfortable. After tornadoes devastated Moore, Oklahoma in 2013, the Carter’s team sprang into action, raising money at regional stores and donating time to clean up a damaged child care center. And when they aren’t responding, Carter’s employees are preparing; packing thousands of Carters’ Cares Kids Comfort Kits that are filled with a three-day supply of new clothing for children living in shelters following an emergency. These kits are designed to bring comfort to families and their children who often arrive with only the clothes on their back. They are pre-positioned so that, when the next disaster strikes, clothing supplies can quickly reach children who need them most.
Primrose Schools is an accredited private preschool that, as the Leader in Educational Child Care®, partners with parents to help children build the right foundation for future learning and life. With Save the Children, Primrose is helping families and communities instill the importance of personal responsibility and safety from the very start of children’s lives; hosting safety- themed Spring Fling events across the country and engaging parents through a monthly 360 Parenting blog post on preparedness.
